1.   Login to WordPress:

    • Open your web browser and enter the URL of your WordPress website.
    • Log in with your username and password.

2.   Access the Permalink Setting :

    • After logging in, you’ll be directed to the WordPress Dashboard. Then, Click on Setting -🡪 Permalink .

  • Click and choose Custom Structure 🡪 %category%%postname% -🡪 Click on Save Changes.

3. Click on Post / Pages  :

  • Click on Post or Page Which URL You Want Change  .

4.  Create or Edit Content:

  • To create a new post or page with a short URL, navigate to “Posts” or “Pages” on the left-hand menu.
  • Click on “Add New” to create a new post or page, or select an existing one to edit.

5.  Compose or Edit Content:

  • Write or edit the content for your post or page.

6 .  Permalink Settings:

  • On the right side of the content editor, you’ll find the “Permalink” settings. By default, WordPress generates a URL based on your post or page title.

7 .  Customize the URL:

  • Click on the “Edit” button next to the generated URL. This will allow you to customize the URL.

  • Edit the URL to be short and descriptive, focusing on the main keywords or topic of your content.
  • Avoid using stop words (e.g., “and,” “the,” “of”) and unnecessary words that don’t add value.

9 . Use Hyphens to Separate Words:

  • Separate words in the URL with hyphens (-) rather than underscores (_) or spaces. For example, use “short-urls” instead of “short_urls” or “short urls.”

10 . Avoid Special Characters:

  • Don’t use special characters, symbols, or spaces in your URLs. Stick to letters, numbers, and hyphens.

11 .  Update and Test or Publish:

  • After customizing the URL, click the “Publish” button for a new post or “Update” for an existing one.
  • After publishing or updating, click on the “View Post” or “View Page” link to ensure the URL is working correctly and is as desired.

12 .Test the URL:

  • Go to Your Website and Check Your URL Change Successfully or Not.

13 . Monitor and Maintain:

  • Periodically review your URLs to ensure they remain concise, relevant, and optimized for SEO.
  • If you decide to change a URL for an existing post, make sure to set up a 301 redirect to avoid broken links and maintain SEO authority.
